The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. This is the easiest factor to determine. A carat is divided into 100 points. A 75-point diamond therefore weighs 0.75 carats.
However, two diamonds of equal weight can have a very different value depending on the size they have undergone, their color and their clarity.
Quality is not just about weight.
Today, a metric system is used to weigh diamonds and this measurement is converted to carat, which is the diamond's unit of weight.
The instruments used to calculate this weight are the screw micrometer, Moh gauge, and lever gauge, to name a few.
